Reference office correspondence

A retained copy from the correspondence file.

Three sources have been supplied in support of the west-room allocation. Their titles suggest three independent observations. Reading the small print suggests a less crowded room.

The Institute Digest cites the Farm Circular. The Farm Circular cites the Institute Digest. Both refer to a consignment without reproducing its original signature. The third item is an actual register, kept by the receiving clerk.

A second citation is useful only if it brings a second observation. Use the source map to identify the first-hand record. Do not average the number of references and call the result agreement.

Notebook question: Which register is the first-hand source rather than a circular citation?
